Timothy Matovina is codirector of the Institute for Latino Studies and professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame. He specializes in US Catholic and US Latino theology and religion. He has written numerous books and articles about US Hispanic Catholic history, theology, ministry, and religious traditions. Matovina’s most recent books include Ministerio hispano: Una introduccion; the award-winning Latino Catholicism: Transformation in America’s Largest Church; and Guadalupe and Her Faithful: Latino Catholics in San Antonio, from Colonial Origins to the Present. Research support for Matovina’s work includes grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Academy of Religion, and the Association of Theological Schools. In 2010, Matovina received the Virgilio Elizondo Award from the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States. He has won two teaching awards at Notre Dame, including the Julian Samora Award. Matovina gives presentations and workshops on US Catholicism and Latino ministry and theology throughout the United States.
